QUESTION #1

The blood pressure in blood vessels decreases with the distance the blood travels, starting from when it was pumped out of the heart's ventricle. Using this information, which statement correctly orders the blood pressure in the major types of blood vessels from least pressure to greatest?

A.) capillaries < veins < arteries

B.) veins < arteries < capillaries

C.) veins < capillaries < arteries

D.) arteries < veins < capillaries

I picked answer choice A. I think the arrows may have confused me a bit, but since the capillaries are the smallest out of the three I figured they had the most amount of pressure, then the veins had the second most pressure since they are bigger than capillaries and smaller than arteries. And because the arteries are the biggest, I would expect them to have the least amount of pressure since the blood had more room. Because the arrows were pointing to the left I read the answer choices from right to left, I figured it was A, but I got it wrong on my test. Please help me understand.
