If a single turn wire carrying current is bent in the from of a loop, the direction of magnetic field may be determined applying either of the two rules namely:


(i)    Right hand rule

(ii)    Cork screw rule, explained in Art. The lines of force are concentric and are always at right angle to the wire.

The loop acts as the true magnet having north and south poles.
