Those motives which receive substantial contributions form activities, which, though playful and exploratory in character, at the same time show direct selectivity and persistence in interacting with environment. Such motives are drives for curiosity, manipulation etc.

2. Secondary motives are closely tied to the learning concepts. Such motives are for power, achievement and affiliation.

3. Security motives are concerned with security regarding life, accident, love, job etc.

4. Status or prestige motive is concerned with achieving status or rank in a group, organizational society.
