Sociology Homework, please put in simple terms?

I don't really understand the assignment, can someone put it in simpler terms?

Compose a 3- to 5-page essay in which you:

Select one social institution (e.g., family, religion, education, or government) and briefly describe how this social institution contributes to the transmission of society's values.

Identify and state a problem or issue related to that social institution.

Describe in detail a study that tries to learn more about the problem. Then, describe in detail how you would applly that learning to an intervention that you propose.

Think of yourself as a social scientist. What type of investigation would you like to conduct? What could you to help solve the issue or problem? Make sure to link it to both your selected institution and your social problem.

Examples: A research study related to youth volunteers in religious organizations, a research study related to homelessness and governmental programs meant to combat homelessness, or a research study related to private programs meant to attract more teachers to inner city schools.

Explain what you're trying to learn in this study, and include whether your study is quantitative (using numeric data and statistics), or qualitative (using described experience), what makes it quantitative or qualitative, how you will find and contact participants for your study, what you will ask them to answer or do, and what you expect to find in your results.
