Fluid Dynamics Question?

T he water jet at 13 m/s (Velocity V) is coming out of a bent nozzle into the air at atmospheric pressure . The cross - sectional area of the nozzle at the exit is 0.5m 2 . The cross - sectional area of entrance of the nozzle is 1 m 2 . Assume frictionless flow. a) What is the pressure at the entrance of the nozzle? b) What are force s F x and F y required to hold down this bent nozzle stationary ignoring the weight of the nozzle and fluid inside the nozzle? Note the direction of x and y axis as drawn and direction of the forces F x and F y . c) How high would you estimate the water jet to go above the exit nozzle before falling down? d) If we had to consider the weight of the bent nozzle and liquid inside the nozzle as being 200 kg, what would be the F x and F y required? (Be careful and note the direction of the forces F x and F y and the positive directions of the axes indicated in the diagram.)
