You perform a cotransduction experiment using a donor strain that is D+ B+ C+ and a recipient strain that is D- B- C-. Selecting for recipients with the D+ allele, you find transductants in the following numbers: 

B- C- 108 

B+ C- 77 

B- C+ 0 

B+ C+ 35 

Determine the cotransduction frequency for all three pairs of genes, if possible. 

You decide to examine another gene in the same bacteria, gene A. The donor is A+ and the recipient is A-. You find transductants in the following numbers: 

D- B- C- 163 

D- B- C+ 61 

D- B+ C- 0 

D- B+ C+ 28 

D+ B- C- 0 

D+ B- C+ 0 

D+ B+ C- 0 

D+ B+ C+ 0 

Draw a map of the region of the chromosome containing these four genes, including cotransduction frequencies for each pair you have been able to calculate from both parts of the question. 

You find an Hfr strain of this same bacterial. Interrupted mating experiments show that B is the first gene to enter the recipient cell, followed by C. Draw this strain’s Hfr origin of transfer on your map. Be sure to indicate direction of transfer.
