A 12 kg penguin is sliding over a horizontal ice surface near the South Pole with an initial 
speed of 5.5 m/s. It comes to rest after 1 5 m cause by the frictional force between the ice and 
the penguin feathers. 
(ii) Calculate the magnitude of the acceleration experienced by the penguin and show that 
it is 1 ms–2. 
(iii) What is the magnitude of the frictional force bringing the penguin to a halt? 

(iv) What is the coefficient of kinetic friction between the penguin and the ice?
