The myostatin gene, used to halt muscle development, is located on chromosome 2 in humans. A single 
defective copy of this gene is not enough to double the muscle mass in humans. Arrestin, a protein that 
helps regulate signal transduction in GPCRs, is coded for a gene also on chromosome 2. Individuals that 
are homozygous recessive have defective blood cell formation. The chromosome is placed into a 
modified fruit fly in order to determine the relative distance between the genes. A true-breeding female 
fruit fly with normal musculature and defective blood cell formation is mated with a true-breeding male 
fruit fly with massive muscles and normal blood cell formation. Draw out each parental chromosome 2. 
Draw a Punnett square for the cross described above. Write one sentence explaining the F1 generation.
