Medical physics question?

So, I study physics and I am interested to do a master degree in medical physics. Specifically I am interested to work on a hospital and get involved in radiation oncology treatment. I searched it on the internet and I am a little bit confussed about what a medical physisict do in that field. Do they collaborate with doctors? If yes how ?What role they play in radiotherapy ? Do they have a contact with the patient(it would be great if that happens) or they have a background role ? Also about medical imaging. What is the difference between a medical physisict and a radiologist in that field? Finally except oncology in what other medical area can they have a treatment role? Sorry for doing so many questions.
