Help with my physics? Need urgent please!



In an experiment we were doing, we were finding how the mass of a weight affects the time taken for it to make a period (bounce up and down once on the spring) 

To do this we added mass stacks to the spring, pulled them down by 1 cm, and timed how long it took to make one period 

We went up in increments of 100g and we made a straight line graph of our results. 

Our gradient of this graph was t^2 = 0.09m 

where m is mass and t^2 is time squared. 

We were given the theoretical spring constant of 70nm^-1 in the test 

And using our gradient (t^2 = 0.09m) and the given equation t^2 = (4pi^2k/m) 

We calculated a spring constant of 0.047749 nm^-1, which is different from our gradient of 0.09m , and way different from the theoretical spring constant of 70nm^-1 

Why is this possible, what made this happen, human error perhaps etc? 

HINT- Teacher told us that your calculated value will be nowhere near 70nm^-1
