Can someone explain this math question?

Hi,
So I've got maths homework about working out the area of a circle from its radius in terms of π. They have given an example of how to work it out but it doesn't make sense to me. The example given is this:
A = π r²
= π x 7.2²
= 51.84π m²
It says it = 51.84 but when I type π x 7.2² into a calculator it does not show that answer.
Thanks in advance sorry I'm not too good at all this pi stuff so plz explain in simple terms.
