This can be defined in a similar way to that used in the definition of electro-static potential. The magnetic potential at any point in the magnetic field is defined as the worked required moving unit (one wevber) north pole from infinity to the point against the magnetic force.

If Hx  is the intensity of the field at a distance of x metres from a pole of strength m ebers, the force upon unit north pole situated at this distance away is Hx  newtons, and the work done in moving the unit north pole from infinity to a point in the neighborhood of the pole is given by

The potential at a point, distance d metres from a pole of strength m webers

It is a scalar quantity i.e. it has got magnitude only
